Welcome back to the men's morning devotional. My name is Chris Muina, and I am with you this week going through the book of Proverbs. If you missed yesterday, which would be in Proverbs chapter 1, I encourage you, please go back and listen to those five minutes. It really sets the stage, gives us context for the book of Proverbs, and I hope you are manning up and starting your day in your word. So yesterday we learned that wisdom begins with fearing the Lord. Today, Solomon teaches us something equally important. Wisdom doesn't come by accident. So let's get into it. The men who grow the most spiritually are rarely the most talented. They're the most intentional. Proverbs chapter 2, verses 4 through 5, it says, If you seek it like silver and search for it as hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. So Scripture is referencing wisdom and it's equating it to silver and hidden treasures, right? And it says we have to be seeking wisdom as if it were a hidden treasure. Think about how hard people work for money. Think about how hard you're probably on your way to work right now. Waking up early, maybe before sunrise, getting home late, sometimes at night. You sacrifice, we sacrifice as men to provide for our homes, to get money, right? And that's a good thing. We that's our call as men is to provide for our homes. But people wake up early, they go, they they you work overtime, you sacrifice comfort, sometimes weekends. We believe that we are pursuing something that is valuable. Solomon says, wisdom deserves that same level of pursuit. When I heard that, that's something that kind of struck a nerve with me because I can get caught up in working hard. But do I put the same level of intensity towards seeking wisdom? Not all the time. Too many men want God's direction without seeking God's presence. They want answers without investing time in His Word. But wisdom is a treasure. It's worth searching for. Scripture says wisdom is better than fine gold, that it's more precious than rubies. Most men become strong leaders, husbands, fathers, disciples. And they're not usually the men with the most natural ability. They're the men who consistently pursue God. A huge responsibility men get the honor to carry is to lead our homes in many ways, but primarily to be the spiritual leader of our homes. And the reality is that most men don't know where to start, or even how that looks. They may hear it said, Oh, that you're the spiritual leader of your home. But what does that look like practically? Well, I'm telling you right now that it all begins with pursuing God, pursuing God's wisdom, pursuing his word, pursuing him in prayer. God promises that when we seek him, we'll find him. Scripture tells us to seek wisdom, and in return, he will give it to us. It's not this elusive thing that God is trying to hide from us or that he's making us work hard towards. He wants it's available, it's there, ready for us. And he just says, just seek it. Ask me for it, and I'll give it to you. So the question is, are we? Are we seeking it with the same passion that we're seeking everything else? So your man up challenge for today is to spend at least 10 uninterrupted minutes in God's Word. Wake up early, wake up before the rest of your family does. Set your alarm clock for 30 minutes before you normally wake up. In the peaceful quiet of the morning, seek the Lord. Start in Proverbs. If you don't know where to start, start in Proverbs. Okay? Treat your time with God as a priority. And that will set the tone for the rest of your day. Don't treat it as an afterthought at the end of the day, right before you go to bed. I know some guys do it that way, but there's such a unique thing of seeking God early in the morning before your day begins. And then when you're done praying or uh reading the word, pray that God will fill you with his spirit, that he'll fill you with wisdom for that day, and then go ahead and start your day. So I'm going to close in prayer. Father, create in me a hunger for your wisdom. Help me to pursue you daily and value your truth above anything else. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
